Golden Globes red carpet 2023 live: Best and worst dressed | Photos

The Golden Globes’ abandoned red carpet has been heavily dusted off for its 2023 comeback.

The annual celebration of film and TV is hosting its 80th anniversary ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel today, and it’s certainly an upgrade on last year’s event, which saw the show reduced to a streamed slide show without a host or a red carpet after NBC dropped the broadcast and celebrities boycotted the event over corruption and racism claims.

But the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) – the organisation that governs the event – has promised Wednesday’s gala will be “Hollywood’s Party of the Year”.

The ceremony is currently underway, you can follow live updates here. But first, we kicked off festivities on the red carpet.

Months out from her anticipated Barbie film, Australian actress Margot Robbie surprised with a glittering pastel pink gown:

The 32-year-old, who is nominated for Babylon, rarely – if ever – wears pink, but we’re anticipating a rosy pallette takeover ahead of her debut as the iconic Mattel doll in July.

“We’re getting in early,” Robbie said of kicking off the Barbie marketing campaign at the Globes.

Breakout Wednesday star Jenna Ortega ditched the all-black wardrobe of her titular character for a billowing, mocha gown:

Supermodel Heidi Klum transitioned from one extreme to the other – from her Halloween worm costume, to a showgirl-style sparkling mini dress with feather details:

Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco flaunted her growing baby bump in a whimsy lavender gown:

Selena Gomez, nominated for Only Murders In The Building, elevated a classic black dress with a mulberry shoulder cape:

Blonde star Ana de Armas stood out from the crowd in a black-and-white geometric piece:

Pam & Tommy actress Lily James hopefully reserved three seats inside the venue:

Oscar winner Jessica Chastain stepped out in an eye-popping, glittery masterpiece:

Salma Hayek flaunted her famous figure in sequins:

Aussie star and House of the Dragon actress Milly Alcock rocked a plunging black dress:

Always the red carpet highlight, Billy Porter bolstered the classic suit with quintessential Billy Porter refinements:

The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki – yet another Aussie nominated – also opted for a pop of pink:

Michelle Williams was ethereal as always in a romantic silhouette:

The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy in a citrus-coloured two-piece:

Top Gun: Maverick villain-turned-saviour Glen Powell looked dashing in a tuxedo:

He attended with his gorgeous girlfriend, US model Gigi Paris:

Fellow Top Gun star Monica Barbaro cut a glamorous figure from her pilot uniform in a romantic red, netted ballgown.

The White Lotus standout and all-around icon Jennifer Coolidge:

Where The Crawdads Sing star Daisy Edgar-Jones served ruffles for years:

Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox in a stunning blue gown:

Avatar sequel star Bailey Bass, 19, attended her first Globes in a shiny gold number:

Going out on a limb here, but we think this is Jamie Lee Curtis:

Severance actress Britt Lower rebirthed the punk princess trend of our intentionally forgotten youth:

Several Australians are up for awards for today’s ceremony.

Margot Robbie is nominated for Best Actress in a comedy for her upcoming movie Babylon, Cate Blanchett for Best Actress in a drama for Tar, and Baz Luhrmann in the running for Best Director for his dazzling Elvis biopic.

In the television category, Melbourne actress Elizabeth Debicki has scored a nod for her portrayal of Princess Diana in season 5 of The Crown.
