The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are out next week

They were announced at the Made by Google launch event held in Brooklyn, New York City.

The gadget showcase, which also featured a new Google smartwatch, was streamed to fans across the globe on October 6.

The Pixel 7 is the firm’s latest entry-level smartphone and will ship with the latest Android 13 software.

AIt’s powered by an upgraded version of Google’s custom Tensor chip – a rival to Apple’s own A-series processors.

It boasts a 6.3-inch display, a redesigned camera bump on the rear and a new punch-hole style front camera.

The Google Pixel 7 Pro is the next step up from the Pixel 7.

It boasts all the best features and a higher price tag to match, and is a direct rival to Apple’s new iPhone 14 Pro.

One of the big perks of the Pro model is a triple-camera system on the back. That’s in keeping with last year’s Google Pixel 6 Pro.

This includes wide, ultra-wide and telephoto lenses – par for the course on high-end devices these days.

The phone’s sleek design encompasses a polished aluminium finish and an aluminium camera bar.

It also runs on Android 13 and features Google’s new chip technology.

Google says the Pixel 7 starts at $799 while the Pro model is launching at $899. U.K. prices are yet to be announced.

The phones are available to preorder today at GoogleStore.com and will ship on October 13.

They will also be available for purchase at one of the brick-and-mortar Google Stores in the New York area.

Google’s Pixel phones are the darling of Android users worldwide due to their competitive pricing and industry-leading cameras.

The gadgets get the benefit of speedy software and security updates directly from Google, like iPhones do from Apple.

That’s because Google owns Android, the smartphone operating system used in Pixel as well as Samsung and Motorolla phones.

Despite their glowing reputation, however, Pixel sales are nowhere near those of their biggest rivals.

According to market analysts at IDC, in the six years that Google has been selling its own phones, it has shifted 27.6million units.

That’s ten per cent of the number of phones Samsung sold in 2021 alone.

Also unveiled at Made by Google was the new Google Pixel Watch, the search giant’s answer to the Apple Watch.
