Julie Bishop launches Mineral Resources’ new luxury Perth office as strategic advisor

Julie Bishop has starred alongside Hollywood actors Hugh Jackman and Kate Walsh in a slick video as part of her new role as ambassador for a mining services company.

The former foreign minister turned ANU Chancellor is now the Strategic Advisor for Mineral Resources Limited in Perth.

The 65-year-old proudly starred in a glitzy clip for the company’s unveiling of their luxurious new headquarters in the Western Australian capital, with cameos by Jackman and Walsh.

From pulling off headstands with the in-house psychologist to dining at the office’s five-star restaurant, the employee induction video shows Ms Bishop running through a day at MinRes.

She shared tips on how staff can make the most of their nine-to-five work week, with MinResHQ one of just 120 buildings in the world to be given a platinum WELL rating – the highest certification for human wellbeing.

At one stage in the video, the former politician finds herself tussling over a hair straightener in a changeroom with Walsh.

She eventually hands it over to the actress telling her: ‘No problem, we have more than one hair straightener.

‘In fact, we have more than one of everything.’

Ms Bishop is later seen in a board meeting with her colleagues only for none other than Jackman to interrupt and personally request more lithium.

‘Hey Jules, my phone is kind of on its last legs, can you just send me a refill of lithium,’ the A-lister says.

West Coast Eagles star Jeremy McGovern also featured in the video and was seen running through some footy drills with kids in the office creche.

Ms Bishop’s new position with the mining company is just one of many glamorous roles the former minister has taken on since leaving politics in 2019.

She has acted as the Chancellor of the Australian National University and Chair Of The Board Of Directors with the Prince’s Trust since 2020.

She’s also taken a seat on the board of professional services company Palladium and started her own consulting firm Julie Bishop and Partners.

Other prominent roles include her membership of the Gender Equality Advisor Council – an independent group of experts convened by Boris Johnson under the UK’s G7 Presidency.

She was also included in Channel Nine’s coverage of this year’s federal election.

On Monday night she spoke at the Mineral Resources professional development program graduation ceremony.
