Keith Urban surprises children at ‘Urbenville’ primary school in northern NSW with tickets to his concert and backstage passes in appreciation of COVID lockdown videos

He’s the four-time Grammy Award winner with a heart of gold.

And on Saturday, Keith Urban treated a group of ‘super fans’ at Urbenville Public School in northern NSW with tickets to his Brisbane concert.

The singer invited 16 students aged between five and 12 and their teacher and principal, Chris Sifko, for backstage for a special meet and greet.

‘It’s the most amazing experience I think I’ve ever had,’ Mrs Sifko told the ABC.

‘The generosity of Keith and his team was just amazing.’

‘The students had the opportunity to ask him questions and speak with him and chat with him, and he went around and gave them all a hug, and he knew them personally by name.’

In December last year, Keith inspired the students as he spoke about music and performing before he surprised the school with five locally purchased guitars for its program and gifted each of the 16 students their own to take home.

‘This is where it all begins,’ an excited Urban told the students during the almost six-minute Zoom call.

‘Wanting to play an instrument, wanting to sing and play for other people… thank you, thank you to the school [for all they do] and to the students [of Urbenville Public School] for having such a passion for music.’

Clearly excited following the video call, the students decided to playfully rename their school ‘Keith Urbenville’ and change their logo to a photo of the popular singer.

The music students of Urbenville Public School captured hearts of the world with their kindness, performing weekly outside the local age care home.

Social media and media coverage included an invitation for Urban to visit the school for their holiday concert, but filming commitments in Sydney meant he had no choice but to surprise the students virtually.
