Gordon Ramsay’s brand-new ITV series Next Level Chef is the latest cooking show hoping to whet our appetites.
The eight-parter follows 12 aspiring chefs out through their paces as they whip up a series of delectable dishes in what the makers are billing as ‘the toughest and most epic cooking contest on TV.’
The kitchen is spread out over three floors, with each space testing the contestants’ culinary creativity, agility, flare, and expertise, as they vie to progress to the Next Level.
Throughout the course of programme, the cooks will be mentored by Gordon, 56, as well as top chef Paul Ainsworth and Nyesha Arrington, as they compete to win a £100,000 prize,.
Up for grabs is also year-long mentorship from the Hell’s Kitchen frontman, Paul and Nyesha.
But who are Paul Ainsworth and Nyesha Harrington? Here is everything you need to know about the Next Level Chef mentors.
Who is Paul Ainsworth from Next Level Chef?
After studying hospitality and catering at Southampton City College, Paul got his first big break when the late Gary Rhodes offered him a job at his restaurant in London.
Paul’s next gig was for Gordon, working at his Restaurant Gordon Ramsay for three years and later his Pétrus eaterie, before being snapped up by Marcus Wareing.
The chef then worked in The Berkeley’s kitchen but decided to launch his own restaurant, along with two friends, in Padstow, Cornwall.
However, Paul bought out his pals to be the sole owner of the business, renaming it Paul Ainsworth at Number 6 and it was awarded a Michelin star in 2013.
On screen, Paul has previously appeared on the BBC’s Great British Menu, winning the dessert course, and is also a regular guest on Saturday Kitchen.
More recently, he featured as a guest chef on MasterChef and has been a judge on Great British Menu since 2018.
Who is Nyesha Arrington from Next Level Chef?
Born in Southern California, Nyesha developed a flair for cooking from her Korean grandmother at the tender age of five, whipping up dishes including bulgogi and homemade kimchi.
Nyesha graduated from the Culinary School at the Art Institute of California in Los Angeles before learning her craft in the two Michelin star Mélisse restaurant in Santa Monica.
She has also worked with legendary chef Joël Robuchon, who served as a mentor, at his Michelin and Mobil award-winning Las Vegas restaurants, L’Atelier and The Mansion.
Outside of the kitchen, Nyesha has featured on Top Chef and Food Network’s series Chef Hunter, where she won the competition.
Next Level Chef premieres tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
