YouTube has removed Pornhub’s channel over ‘multiple’ community guideline violations.

The adult entertainment website’s account has been banned over violating YouTube’s external link policy, as reported by Variety.

‘Upon review, we terminated the channel Pornhub Official following multiple violations of our Community Guidelines,’ YouTube spokesperson Jack Malon told The Verge.

‘We enforce our policies equally for everyone, and channels that repeatedly violate or are dedicated to violative content are terminated,’

YouTube prohibits users from linking to content that’s not allowed on the platform, such as pornography.

Pornhub’s YouTube channel, had nearly 900,000 subscribers before it was taken down on Friday.

The channel was launched eight years ago and mainly posted non-NSFW content promoting Pornhub and its performers.

The company also applied an age restriction to the videos posted to YouTube that required viewers to be 18 years of age or older.

Responding to the ban, ‘vehemently denies’ the claims that it posted or linked to adult content.

‘Pornhub maintains the absolute best trust and safety measures on the internet and takes special care to ensure it does not violate any of YouTube’s Community Guidelines,’ a Pornhub spokesperson told The Verge.

‘Unfortunately, this is just the latest example of discrimination against those in the adult industry, a trend seen across social media and all other facets of life, especially as groups disingenuously conflate consensual adult content with exploitation.’

In September, Pornhub was kicked off Instagram after the social media app decided its account ‘goes against our Community Standards’.

Pornhub responded to the ban with an open letter that criticizes Instagram for removing its ‘fully PG’ account, all while other creators continue to post content with ‘nudity and overt sexuality with no repercussions’.

In 2020, Pornhub banned all unverified content after Visa and Mastercard withdrew their payment privileges.

At the time, the porn site said it was the ‘the most far-reaching safeguards in user-generated platform history.’

Pornhub added: ‘Unverified users are now banned from uploading content — a policy no other platform has put in place, including Facebook, which reported 84 million instances of child sexual abuse material over the last three years. In comparison, the Internet Watch Foundation reported 118 incidents on Pornhub over the last three years.’
