Robert Irwin ‘goes public’ with American actress Emmy Perry

Robert Irwin has ‘gone public’ with his longtime friend Emmy Perry, according to a new report by Australian magazine Woman’s Day.

Emmy, 17, is a American actress, animal welfare advocate and heiress to a videogame fortune worth an estimated $380million.

The Glee star jetted Down Under last month, reportedly so she could spend time with Robert, 18, whom she has known since 2019.

Emmy has been sharing photos on Instagram of the pair at Australia Zoo, and also posted a video of them returning a turtle to its natural habitat.

They were first pictured together at Disneyland back in 2019, after meeting earlier that year at the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Los Angeles.

There is nothing in Emmy’s social media posts to suggest they are more than friends, but Woman’s Day is reporting they may be romantically involved.

Emmy, who hails from Newport Beach, California, is the daughter of Northern Irish video game developer David Perry.

Perry is best known for creating various hit games for 16-bit consoles in the 1990s, including Earthworm Jim and Disney’s Aladdin.

He later sold his cloud-based games service Gaikai to Sony Computer Entertainment in 2012 in a deal worth a reported $380million.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Robert’s representatives for comment.

Robert made headlines several weeks ago when an American tourist asked him for his phone number during a visit to Australia Zoo.

A TikTok video went viral of Megan Grass, from Utah, trying to get Robert’s digits after a show at the Crocoseum.

‘I think you are so cool and I was wondering if I can have your number?’ she said.

‘Well, I’m very flattered,’ he responded before asking Megan where she was from.

He added: ‘The easiest way [to contact me] is on Instagram because then my people can monitor it and see when it comes through because my number is getting mixed.’

Megan told Robert she’d already sent him a DM on Instagram but he didn’t reply.

‘Well, I actually DM’d you last night to tell you I was coming here today,’ she said.

‘What’s your name? I’ll look it up!’ Robert answered.

Robert later said on the Today show the gesture ‘meant the world’ to him and went ‘straight to his heart’.

‘Honestly that made my entire day. It was so kind. [It] really meant the world,’ he told co-hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon.

‘I can’t just go out and give my number to everyone unfortunately, and it is hit and miss, you know. But it was really kind. It went straight to my heart. It was something that meant the world.’

The young conservationist went on to say his focus right now was continuing his late father Steve Irwin’s legacy of wildlife conservation.

Steve, known to millions around the world as ‘the Crocodile Hunter’, died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray while filming a documentary in Batt Reef, Queensland.

Robert was just two years old at the time.
