Simon Thomas has revealed he and his wife Derrina are expecting their first baby together as they shared the happy news with their followers.

The presenter, 49, took to Instagram to reveal that Derrina, 31, was pregnant with their first child just over a year after they got married.

Sharing a video clip from their wedding, Simon told his followers: ‘Fourteen months ago today, @chrissayburn & @brittanysipling sang this beautiful song of blessing over us.’

He added: ‘There’s another little blessing on its way…’

The video then cut to Simon’s hands lifting away to reveal Derrina’s, before her hands lifted away to reveal Simon’s 12-year-old son Ethan’s hands, which finally uncovered a baby scan photograph.

He also shared a photo of the three of them smiling broadly before adding on his story: ‘We just know that this precious boy is going to be an amazing big brother.’

The happy news comes almost five years after Simon’s first wife Gemma died, just three days after she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.

Simon and Gemma had been married for 12 years after tying the knot in 2005 and he addressed his new relationship a year after her death.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live in November 2018: ’I’m very aware she was someone I didn’t know before and have got to know over the last few weeks and months.

‘Right from the early stages – she had this empathy towards me. She’s Christian as well and that’s important to me as a man of faith.

‘She’s been an incredible support for me. She was the only person who would always pick up the phone. What I saw in her, I saw in Gemma. When she said my phone is always on, she meant it.’
