An employee who swapped his UK apartment for a five-star all-inclusive hotel in Turkey for a month – because he discovered it would be cheaper than his home life in the UK – said he had been ‘living a dream’ and could happily move there full-time.

Josh Kerr, 24, spent 28 days at the Port River Hotel and Spa in Antalya on a trip that cost £944 compared to the £950 per month he pays for rent and bills at his Manchester pad.

Returning home on Saturday, he said he would trade his flat for permanent hotel living if he could work abroad full-time, despite missing bacon and Irn-Bru in Turkey.

During his stay, the creative strategist worked remotely from the hotel, logging into his laptop in the ‘blazing sunshine’ and spending his lunchbreaks dipping in the pool, playing table tennis or stopping by the beach for a quick game of football.

‘The first few days, it didn’t even feel real,’ he told MailOnline Travel.

Josh Kerr spent one month living and working from a five-star all-inclusive resort in Antalya, Turkey, which he said was cheaper than rent and bills at his flat in Manchester. Here, he is pictured exploring the coastline

Josh checked into the Port River Hotel and Spa, pictured, in February and stayed for 28 days

‘It’s a premium way of living, for such a cheap cost. The fact I didn’t have to cook a thing in the past month was amazing. My apartment also doesn’t have five pools for me to take a lunchtime dip in. Thinking about it, I need to get myself back to Turkey ASAP.’

Josh said it ‘was a sad one’ packing for his flight home on Saturday and he didn’t want to leave the 20C weather after hearing the rain forecast in Manchester.

The first thing he did when he got home was ‘whip up a full English brekkie’ as he said ‘pork isn’t served in Turkey so I was absolutely craving a bit of bacon by the end’.

However, he was anything but lacking in food at the resort where breakfast, lunch and dinner were included in his stay.

‘The all-inclusive was amazing, you’d just be able to get anything you want, anytime you wanted it,’ Josh said.

‘There were so many options that I just kept changing up what I had to eat every day.

However, the best thing was definitely the rotisserie chicken and gravy – made me feel right at home.’

He also adopted a local tradition that he hopes to continue back at home.

‘Anywhere I go I always try and embrace the local culture, and in Turkey it’s culture to have a Turkish tea after every single meal,’ he said.

‘By the end of our trip we were drinking that stuff more than the locals, it became part of our routine too. I’ve already started looking at Turkish tea pots now.’

Josh was invited on the trip by On the Beach after he shared the price of a one-month hotel stay on TikTok and pointed out that it was cheaper than his rent.

Bosses at the online travel agent got in touch and challenged Josh to do it after his clip went viral, racking up more than a million views in 24 hours.

He checked in on February 17 and spent the weekend exploring the area before continuing his normal work routine from the hotel on weekdays.

Describing a typical day of hotel living, he said: ‘Every day kicked off with breakfast, a glass of orange juice and then some eggs on toast was my usual.

‘But with Turkey being three hours ahead of the UK, I had so many options as to how I’d go about our day.

‘I had to work UK hours and flexi-time allowed me to start anytime between 7am and 9.30am, which meant the latest we could start work would be 12.30pm. So some days we’d get up early and go out and explore the local towns and some of their markets. Other days we’d just dive straight into work.

‘I’d always be logging into work in the sun, and staying there until my laptop died. It’s safe to say anyone on a Teams call with me hated me for the past month as they saw me sitting in the blazing sunshine.’

The only downsides for Josh were paying to use the hotel's laundry service and braving the cold water of the outdoor swimming pool, above, during his winter stay

During the evenings, Josh enjoyed exploring the nearby town of Side, relaxing with a cocktail at the hotel bar and the occasional visit to the hotel’s nightclub.

His highlights were having access to ‘any food you want any time’ – favouring Turkish mezze, bread and dips in particular – and never having to clean his room, thanks to the hotel’s daily housekeeping service.

And he was pleasantly surprised by the amount of culture and history in the area, with ‘ancient ruins more than 2,000 years old just a 10-minute walk away’.

The only downsides were paying for the hotel’s laundry service to wash his clothes and braving the cold water of the swimming pool.

‘Because it’s wintertime, the outside pools were like an ice bath, so I had to channel my inner Wim Hof,’ Josh said.

‘But even that wasn’t an issue as they had a heated indoor pool if I wanted a quick dip. Another minor problem was that the juices weren’t freshly squeezed and were more like cordials – but as I say, very minor.’

The advantage of visiting off-season was that the hotel was ‘not too crowded’ but ‘a nice level of busy’.

Summing up the experience, Josh said it was ‘incredible’ and that he is already planning his next one-month hotel stay in Vegas.

What’s more, he said it’s ‘fairly accessible to anyone who has the ability to work from anywhere’.

He added: ‘You could put your flat or home on a rental site and, given the prices city centre flats go for in the UK, for a weekend stay, you could use this money to pay for your travel.

‘If you would keep switching countries every month, it would be amazing. Going country hopping, experiencing different five-star hotels.

‘There would obviously be home comforts that you’d miss but you’d make up for it with new cultures to dive right into.’

A Gold Coast woman who lost her job during the pandemic has revealed how she now makes a six-figure income every month.

Sharna Beckman was working as a dental assistant for six years when Covid struck and reduced her hours. She’d seen people doing well modelling on an adult subscription service so she decided to try her hand at it to earn some extra money.

“I wasn’t taking OnlyFans as seriously and then I ended up losing my job because I wasn’t wanting to get vaccinated, so I ended up taking it more seriously and that’s when I started skyrocketing,” Sharna told news.com.au.

But, the 27-year-old found an unusual niche on the adult website. She makes six figures a month — and is on track to make $1.5 million in 2024 — by humiliating men.

“I was pretty plain Jane when I first got involved and then I started getting all these requests, and they were offering big money for it,” she said.

“I was like ‘stuff it, I’ll do it’. They’d tell me these weird kinks and what they would want out of it.”

It was new territory for Sharna to step into. Friends would describe her as bubbly, friendly and outgoing but in this new world she was essentially working as a dominatrix.

But, she was open to trying new things and found it fun to step into this “mean” role that was so unlike her day-to-day life.

One particular session that comes to mind for Sharna was when she was doing custom content for a man who wore women’s heels and a handbag.

“He was telling me to call him all these names, tell him he was stupid,” she said.

“He absolutely loved it and just kept paying me more and more the more so I’d continue saying those things.”

Sharna claims she makes over a million dollars a year – and the most she has ever made was $220,000 in a month.

She said for the last six months she’s made six figures and is on track to make $1.5 million in 2024.

“I mean, it’s not for everyone. I know a lot of girls that can’t really handle the industry because you get mean comments but I’ve got pretty tough skin,” Sharna said, adding her friends and mum are supportive of her career.

“I just try not to read the comments and my fans all love me. A lot of them have been around since the beginning.”

Sharna said she wanted to enjoy her time working in the sex industry but said she wanted to invest in properties and start a swimwear or clothing line for the future.

“I love fashion. I love putting outfits together, so maybe something like that. I haven’t 100 per cent figured out what I actually want to do.”

Sharna revealed she didn’t come from much and wants to be able to support herself and her mother, who lives in government housing.

March is a month all about successful women, and we love highlighting businesses like Cape Bottle Room. Founder, Danya Declusin joined Studio 512 to tell us more.

Tell us more about your background?

“My background was not a direct path to owning a business like Cape Bottle Room but I was able to pull from a variety of education and experience to create a foundation. I have worked in the food industry, I have an undergrad degree in psychology and a masters in historical architecture.”

How did Cape Bottle Room get started?

“Another covid business! I looked at my priorities and I wanted to create something that I truly cared about. I wanted to build something for my family.”

    Why South African Wines?

“SA wine is under-represented in the US market. I was spending so much time in a region that should have its moment in the spotlight. The United States is number 4 in the world for South African wine by volume, behind the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. It’s remarkable because all of these countries combined have significantly less population than the US, and a much broader history with Old World wines. Another thing is that South Africa is a complicated region but there are so many efforts being made to build up community through social sustainability and environmental sustainability is truly remarkable. So not only is the wine incredible, it’s also sustainable, clean without additives like other regions and the culture is so inviting.”

Discuss about being a woman business owner –

“As a female business owner, I believe we position ourselves differently, we take a more human approach caring about fostering a team and work-life balance and because of this innate approach, you are sometimes more vulnerable to the negative side, criticism, advice, judgment and an overarching attitude that your business plan is a roundtable discussion and not a well constructed plan.

The female business community has been an incredible resource as well. I don’t know if i would be as well positioned as I am without the help of Chelsea, my publicist, also a female business owner. My team with inKind, both Jessica Siuda and the CMO Joann Jen have worked to bring me center stage at inKind and also through other female networking groups.

I also feel that my role as the mother to an incredibly charismatic, intuitive daughter is to model that women can do whatever they want. I take that role seriously.”

Marine Vallery-Radot, 51, the apartment’s tenant, said she cried when she got the call last northern summer that hers was among 253 lower-income families chosen for a spot in the l’Îlot Saint-Germain, a new public-housing complex a short walk from the Musée d’Orsay, the National Assembly and Napoleon’s tomb.

“We were very lucky to get this place,” said the single mother who lives here with her 12-year-old son, as she gazed out of bedroom windows overlooking the Latin Quarter. “This is what I see when I wake up.”

“Those who produce the riches of the city must have the right to live in it.”

Ian Brossat, Paris Council head of housing

Public housing can conjure images of bleak, boxy towers on the outskirts of a city, but this logement social was built in the former offices of the French Defence Ministry, in the 7th arrondissement, one of Paris’ most chic neighbourhoods. It’s part of an ambitious and aggressive effort to keep middle and lower-income residents and small-business owners in the heart of a city that would otherwise be unaffordable to them, and by extension, to preserve the ineffable character of a city adored by people around the world.

This summer, when the French capital welcomes upwards of 15 million visitors for the Olympic Games, it will showcase a city engineered by government policies to achieve mixité sociale – a diverse social mix. One-quarter of all Paris residents now live in public housing, up from 13 per cent in the late 1990s. The mixité sociale policy, promoted most forcefully by left-wing political parties, notably the French Communist Party, targets the economic segregation seen in many world cities.

“Our guiding philosophy is that those who produce the riches of the city must have the right to live in it,” said Ian Brossat, a communist senator who served for a decade as the Paris Council’s head of housing. Teachers, sanitation workers, nurses, college students, bakers and butchers are among those who benefit from the program.

Making the philosophy a reality is increasingly hard – the waitlist for public housing in Paris is more than six years long. “I won’t say this is easy and that we have solved the problem,” Brossat said.

Paris is being buffeted by the same market forces vexing other so-called superstar cities such as London, San Francisco and New York – a sanctum for the world’s wealthiest to park their money and buy a piece of a living museum. The average price for a 90-square-metre apartment in the centre of the capital today is €1.3 million ($2.16 million), according to the Chamber of Notaries of Paris.

The Abbé Pierre Foundation, an influential charity, was unusually emphatic in its annual report, published in February, calling France’s affordability crisis a “social bomb”: homelessness is rising and 2.4 million families are waiting on public-housing applications, up from 2 million in 2017. Still, the measures that Paris has taken to keep lower-income residents in the city go far beyond the initiatives in most other European cities.

Every Thursday, Jacques Baudrier, the Paris city councillor in charge of housing, scrolls through the list of properties being exchanged by sellers and buyers on the private market. With some exceptions, the city has the legal right to preempt the sale of a building, buy the property and convert it to public housing.

“We are in a constant battle,” said Baudrier, who wields a €625 million annual budget.

The fight, he said, is against forces that make buying Parisian real estate impossible for all but the well-to-do, including buyers who snap up holiday apartments and then leave them empty for most of the year. Paris has also sharply restricted short-term rentals, after officials became alarmed when historic neighbourhoods, including the old Jewish quarter, the Marais, appeared to be shedding full-time residents as investors bought places to rent out to tourists.

At the same time, the city has built or renovated more than 82,000 apartments over the past three decades for families with children. Rents range from €6 to €13 per square metre, depending on household income, meaning that a two-bedroom, 90-square-metre apartment might go for as little as €600 a month. It has also built 14,000 student apartments over the past 25 years; monthly rents at one complex currently nearing completion in the 13th arrondissement start at €250.

The French statistics agency, Insee, reports that Paris is home to more than 10,000 nurses, 1700 bakers, 470 butchers, 945 garbage collectors and 5300 janitors. The push for more social housing and other programs to make the city more affordable has coincided with the dominance of left-wing political parties, who came to power in 2001 after decades of right-wing rule.

But François Rochon, an urban planning consultant, said there is a functional consensus between right and left in France today on the need for public housing that mirrors some other European nations, but not the United States. “Living in social housing is not stigmatised,” said Rochon, who pointed to its roots a century ago in France, when companies built apartments for their workers.

As a measure of the left-right alignment on the issue, Benoist Apparu, a former housing minister who served in a conservative government, described social housing as “absolutely essential”.

    Loading

“A city, if it’s only made up of poor people, is a disaster,” said Apparu, who now works for a property developer. “And if it’s only made up of rich people, it’s not much better.”

Paris’ housing program is part of the trade-off of the welfare state: affordable healthcare and education in exchange for some of the highest income tax rates and social charges in Europe. Public housing, however, is increasingly available only for those lucky enough to get it.

There also is vestigial cynicism in Paris about public housing after a series of scandals in the 1990s, when some conservative politicians were revealed to be paying cheap rents for luxury city-owned apartments. Today, the city awards public housing through a system that strips the names of applicants and prioritises them through a points system that factors income and family circumstances.

Mostly, resistance comes at the local level, Rochon said. Residents in central arrondissements, for example, have often pushed back against building public housing, and the neighbourhoods remain bastions of the wealthy. There is also disagreement about how far the government can or should push public housing in the future. The current goal is for Paris to have 30 per cent public housing for low-income residents and 10 per cent for middle-income residents by 2035.

Baudrier, the Paris City Council member, said he believes that in the long term, 60 per cent of housing in the city should be public and reserved for low- and middle-income families.

But building new public housing has been particularly challenging because so much of the city is already so densely packed – and often protected by landmark status.

City planners have negotiated with the public railways to buy old train yards and rights of way. They’ve also seized on opportunities like the one that arose in 2018, when the French Defence Ministry consolidated its offices in Paris and the city negotiated to buy the l’Îlot Saint-Germain for well below market rates. The ensuing construction of 253 apartments was financed by the sale of part of the building to a Qatari investment fund, which is building a luxury hotel, as well as low-interest government loans that have durations as long as 50 to 80 years, according to Emmanuelle Cosse, a former housing minister.

City Hall has also taken over condemned buildings. Fabrice Chaillou, a father of two who manages computer networks, lives in public housing on the northern edge of Paris that was built from the ruins of a dilapidated neighbourhood. He pays €980 a month for a three-bedroom apartment that he waited 10 years to get. Among his neighbours are a janitor, teachers, a car salesperson and a police officer.

The program has allowed Chaillou and his wife to raise their two boys in the city. But he knows that the future of social housing will always face at least one big challenge: “The problem is that once you get in, you never want to leave.”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — April Coleman spent Sunday cavorting in the street with family and friends, passing out green beads at the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Kansas City, Missouri, and she said she would not be deterred by last month’s deadly shooting at another big mass gathering.

A rally honoring the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs was disrupted when two groups of people began shooting at each other, leaving a mother of two dead and about two dozen others injured — half of them under 16.

Coleman acknowledged that the shooting wasn’t completely out of her mind, but said she never considered skipping the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

“I don’t want to live my life in fear,” she said. “I still want to come out and have fun with good people.”

This time around, under a heavy police presence, things were calm. Police spokeswoman Alayna Gonzalez said just two people were arrested, both for non-violent crimes.

Erin Gabert of the parade committee said the crowd appeared somewhat smaller this year, but it was unclear if that was because people were still fearful after the shooting, or if the brisk, breezy weather kept people away.

Along the route, a man driving a Corvette in the parade stopped long enough to shake the hand of a police officer, and several others did, too. One float was pulled by a truck with a sign on the front that read, “Kansas City Strong.”

Parade organizers and police were diligent in taking steps to ensure safety. Gonzalez said 400 officers were on the scene. Uniformed officers lined the lengthy parade route, while many more in plainclothes mingled amid the green-clad crowd. Other officers watched from rooftops. A police helicopter hovered above the parade.

The Super Bowl rally shooting showed, though, that there are limitations to what can be done to stop a sudden outbreak of violence. About 800 officers were on the streets that day when the shots rang out toward the end of the Feb. 14 rally.

Police said two groups of people became agitated, apparently because each group didn’t like the way members of the other were looking at them. Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old radio personality, was standing nearby when she was fatally struck.

Last month, two men were charged with second-degree murder and other crimes. Three other people were charged Monday, accused of illegally purchasing high-powered rifles and guns with extended magazines, including guns involved in the shooting. And two juveniles are in custody on gun-related and resisting arrest charges.

Organizers of the St. Patrick’s Day parade and people involved in other big area parades met shortly after the shooting to compare emergency plans and discuss best practices to deal with potential problems.

Parade leaders urged paradegoers to leave their guns at home and to arrive with a plan for where to park and where to meet if people got separated. Families were encouraged to have kids wear something that identifies them. They also were encouraged to tell police or a volunteer if they saw anything out of the ordinary.

Gabert understood why some may have been hesitant to attend this year’s parade. Those who did, she said, appeared to have a good time.

“It was nice to have some normalcy and feel good, and enjoy St. Patrick’s Day,” she said.

The pace of new home construction climbed 14 per cent in February compared to the previous month, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. said on Friday, but the industry continues to struggle under cost pressures.

The national housing agency says the seasonally adjusted annual rate of new home construction — also known as housing starts — amounted to 253,468 units in February, compared with 223,176 in January.

That was higher than the 230,000 units economists were expecting.

When looking at year-over-year figures, February’s housing starts were up 11 per cent, with the increase driven entirely by higher multi-unit starts (e.g. apartments and condos) that increased 16 per cent, while single-detached starts were down 14 per cent.

“As the national housing shortage continues, the focus for developers continues to shift towards multi-unit construction in Canada’s major centres,” said CMHC chief economist Bob Dugan in a news release.

Month-to-month starts can fluctuate significantly as the launch of larger multi-unit developments can skew numbers. Adjusted starts in February were up 79 per cent in Vancouver and down 31 per cent in Montreal.

To smooth out those swings and give a clearer picture of the upcoming housing supply trend, CMHC also reports a six-month moving average of the adjusted rate. In February, the indicator showed starts at 245,665, up by 0.4 per cent from January.

A construction worker is shown at a building site in Ajax, Ont., on Nov., 30, 2023. The increased rate of housing starts in February is likely due to the unusually mild winter weather, according to economist Katherine Judge of CIBC Economics. (Christopher Katsarov/The Canadian Press)

Bounce-back expected, weather could be partly behind increase

“A bounce-back in starts was anticipated in February after January’s decline. However, they continue to trend at a solid level, supported by rising construction of purpose-built rental units and elevated home prices,” wrote TD economist Rishi Sondhi in a note.

Housing starts in the first two months of the first quarter are below their fourth-quarter level and expected to go lower, Sondhi added, “suggesting some potential downward pressure on residential investment growth in the first quarter.”

TD Bank thinks that housing start figures will continue to decline as past weakness in home sales translates to fewer homes built, Sondhi said.

Some of the increase is likely due to the unusually mild winter weather that we’ve seen this year, according to economist Katherine Judge of CIBC Economics.

The weather might also be driving activity in the resale market, she wrote, “along with optimism for [Bank of Canada] rate cuts later this year.”

Economists are expecting the Bank of Canada will move on an interest rate cut in June, which could mean that sidelined homebuyers rush back into the market.

The subsidiary, owned by Turkish Airlines, will fly to 93 destinations in total, including 41 domestic and 52 international.

However, the carrier hopes that this is only the start, with aims for a fleet of 200 aircraft within the next decade.

Ticket sales were launched earlier this week, with flights due to set off before the end of the month.

A statement published to the airline’s website reads: “Founded as a successful brand of Turkish Airlines with the goal of ‘everybody to fly’, AnadoluJet continues its journey as AJET after successfully fulfilling its mission of bringing over 100 million guests safely to their loved ones in 16 years.

“AJet aims to make the airline experience more modern, comfortable and accessible by meeting the sky as of March 31, when it will start its flights.

“In the summer of 2024, AJet will fly to a total of 93 destinations, 41 on domestic routes and 52 on international routes.

“With 95 aircraft in its fleet, and plans to fly to a total of 44 countries, it aims to have a fleet of 200 aircraft in the next 10 years as a global growth target.”

    Emirates business class review

A spokesperson told Travel Weekly: “The new airline will offer a more modern, comfortable, and accessible experience for its customers, with plans to become a leading low-cost airline on a global scale, further strengthening its competitive position in the market.”

Flights from London to Istanbul are available on the Ajet website from £131 one way.

They aren’t the only new flights to have been launched from the UK this year.

In fact, 2024 will see the arrival of a host of new routes from the UK opening up.

Coming in first place in the Reader’s Choice Awards was Japan Airlines.

The airline has partnered with six Michelin-star chefs, each of whom have three stars – so you can expect it to be good.

Passengers can choose bento boxes and miso soups onboard.

    Singapore Airlines

Often voted one of the best airlines in the world, it is no surprising Singapore Airlines is said to have some of the best plane food.

Chef Dennis Littley said: “Their gourmet meals rival those of ground-based restaurants.”

Dishes include congee, a rice porridge, as well as Singaporean rice and curry options.

    Turkey

Corendon Airlines has planned hundreds of new flights between the UK and Turkey for this summer.

Their new services will serve several UK airports, flying to Turkey’s Dalaman and Antalya regions.

Later in the year, the little-known airline will operate 27 flights per week between the UK and Turkey.

They will fly to and from airports including London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Bristol and Glasgow.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York prosecutors said Thursday they are open to delaying the start of Donald Trump’s hush-money criminal trial by a month “in an abundance of caution” to give the former president’s lawyers time to review evidence they only recently obtained from a previous federal investigation into the matter.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office said in a court filing that it does not oppose adjourning the trial for 30 days but would fight the defense’s push for a longer delay. Judge Juan Manuel Merchan did not immediately rule.

Jury selection is scheduled for March 25. The hush-money case is one of four criminal indictments against Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Trump’s legal team said it has received tens of thousands of pages of evidence from the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan in the last two weeks, including records about former Trump lawyer-turned-prosecution witness Michael Cohen that are “exculpatory and favorable to the defense.” Prosecutors said most of the newly turned over material is “largely irrelevant to the subject matter of this case,” though some records are pertinent.

Trump’s lawyers want a 90-day delay, but they’ve also asked Merchan to dismiss the case entirely, alleging the last-minute disclosures amounted to prosecutorial misconduct and violated rules governing the sharing of evidence. That process, called discovery, is routine in criminal cases and is intended to help ensure a fair trial.

Prosecutors contend Trump’s lawyers caused the problem by waiting until Jan. 18 to subpoena the U.S. attorney’s office for the full case file — a mere nine weeks before the scheduled start of jury selection.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office said it requested the full file last year, but the U.S. attorney’s office only turned over a subset of records. Trump’s lawyers received that material last June and had ample time to seek additional evidence from the federal probe, the D.A.’s office said.

Short trial delays because of issues with evidence aren’t unusual, but any delay in a case involving Trump would be significant, with trial dates in his other criminal cases up in the air and Election Day less than eight months away.

The defense has also sought to delay the trial until after the Supreme Court rules on Trump’s presidential immunity claims, which his lawyers say could apply to some of the allegations and evidence in the hush-money case. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments April 25.

Arlo Devlin-Brown, a former chief of public corruption for the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan, said prosecutors may be acquiescing to a delay because they recognize the amount of material is substantial and want to stake out a position they think Merchan will find reasonable.

“The Trump team likely views this as quite a positive on two fronts: They’re getting a trove of documents, some of which may be useful, and they’re getting more time,” said Devlin-Brown, who is not involved in the hush-money case.

Since March 4, Trump’s lawyers have received at least 84,000 pages of records from the U.S. attorney’s office, including a batch of 31,000 pages on Wednesday, according to a court filing. More material is expected to be turned over in the coming days.

The hush-money case centers on allegations that Trump falsified his company’s records to hide the true nature of payments to Cohen, who paid porn actor Stormy Daniels $130,000 during the 2016 presidential campaign to suppress her claims of an extramarital sexual encounter with Trump years earlier.

Trump pleaded not guilty last year to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and has denied having a sexual encounter with Daniels. His lawyers argue the payments to Cohen were legitimate legal expenses and not part of any cover-up.

Trump has repeatedly sought to postpone his criminal trials while he campaigns to retake the White House.

“We want delays,” Trump told reporters as he headed into a Feb. 15 hearing in New York case. “Obviously I’m running for election. How can you run for election if you’re sitting in a courthouse in Manhattan all day long?”

At that hearing, prosecutor Matthew Colangelo complained that Trump was attempting to use his complicated legal calendar “to evade accountability” by seeking delays.

But Manhattan prosecutors’ new willingness to bump the trial comes about a week after another document dump prompted them to abandon another high-profile case in the midst of a trial — a fact Trump’s lawyers hardly missed.

Three men were abruptly cleared March 6 of an alleged scheme involving the possession of handwritten drafts of lyrics to “Hotel California” and other Eagles classics. The startling turn came after prosecutors and defense lawyers were suddenly given 6,000 pages of material involving band co-founder Don Henley, his lawyers and associates.

It happened after Henley, the prosecution’s key witness, apparently decided late in the game to give up his right to keep communications with his attorneys private. He and others had already testified. After defense lawyers said the material belatedly raised questions they could no longer ask him and other witnesses, prosecutors agreed to drop the case.

Trump’s lawyers drew a parallel. They wrote that in his case, too, prosecutors “should have recognized that they do not have a complete understanding of their witnesses and that material existed that they needed to collect.”

The deluge of evidence in Trump’s case pertains to the federal investigation that sent Cohen to prison.

After a decade of working for Trump, Cohen broke with him in 2018 and soon pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations related to the hush-money payments, making false statements on a bank loan application, evading taxes related to his investments in the taxi industry and lying to Congress.

Cohen went to prison for about a year before being released to home confinement because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He became an outspoken Trump foe and is poised to be a key prosecution witness against Trump. Trump and his lawyers, meanwhile, contend Cohen is completely untrustworthy.

In their case against Cohen, federal prosecutors said the hush-money payments were made to benefit Trump and occurred with his knowledge — but they stopped short of accusing Trump of directly committing a crime.

The Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, which provides legal advice and guidance to federal agencies, has maintained that a sitting president cannot be indicted. Federal prosecutors didn’t revive their investigation once Trump left the White House.

“The Nest is a little slice of paradise.”

Another agreed: “Couldn’t have been more perfect for little ones – cold lake dips and kayaking, roasting marshmallows over the fire pit, wood fired cooking for every meal.”

A third simply said: “Probably one of the best weekends of my life!”

If you fancy another glamping holiday, we’ve rounded up some others in the UK to add to your list.

    The Secret Garden Glamping, Wigan

The Secret Garden Glamping was named the best in the UK by AA last year.

Inside are private hot tubs, barbeques and even a neon-themed yurt called The Glade.

If you’re lucky, you may spot some some free roaming deer.

    Elmley Nature Reserve, Kent

As the UK’s only nature reserve where you can sleep over, it is perfect for wildlife lovers.

Birds, cows and sheep roam the 3,300 acres, and you can rent binoculars to see them.

You can also make the most of marshmallow toasting over the fire, with a communal kitchen on-site.

And here’s a glampsite owners top tips on how to make the perfect UK holiday.

Three camping tips from an expert

David Scotland owns camping equipment retailer Outdoor World Direct and knows all about how to make a camping trip run smoothly.

When visiting any campsite this summer it’s important to make sure you’re not making simple mistakes that could ruin your holiday.

    Check your tent

David recommends putting your tent up a couple of weeks before you’re due to travel to give you enough time to repair or replace any damaged parts.

He told Sun Online Travel: “You’d be surprised how many people turn up with broken tents.”

    Test the ground

Picking a good spot to pitch your tent is difficult, with lots of things to consider.

One of those should be the condition of the ground you’re putting your tent on top of, according to David.

He said: “Once you’ve found the perfect spot, test the ground with your pegs before you commit to camping there to make sure the ground is soft enough.”

    Don’t nap in your tent

It may seem the perfect place for it, but a nap in a tent could end badly, if it’s done at the wrong time of the day.

David explained: “If the sun’s shining and it’s hot inside your tent – don’t do it!

“One of our friends nodded off in his tent during a heatwave at Glastonbury and ended up at the medical tent with heatstroke.”

Instead, he recommends finding some shade outside or somewhere well ventilated.
